Housing Officer / Tenancy Sustainment Officer
Location: Woodford Green (Office-based with travel)
Contract: Temporary (3–6 months)
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Rate:
- PAYE: £142.20 per day
- Umbrella: £187.00 per day
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Officer / Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join a busy local authority housing team on a temporary basis. Working within a community-focused environment, you will play a key role in supporting vulnerable residents to sustain their tenancies and maintain safe, stable living conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Identify vulnerable residents and provide tailored tenancy sustainment support
- Work closely with partner agencies to ensure residents receive appropriate care and services
- Support tenants with rent management and prevention of tenancy breaches
- Address complex issues including hoarding, mental health, and social challenges
- Manage anti-social behaviour cases proactively, including:
- Case investigation and resolution
- Liaising with all parties involved
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records
- Provide practical support such as completing forms and signposting to relevant services
- Engage in lone working across housing estates and communities
We are looking for a resilient and proactive individual who can confidently manage challenging situations.
You will have:
- Previous experience in a housing, tenancy sustainment, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and supporting vulnerable individuals
- Experience handling anti-social behaviour cases
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in confrontational situations
- Strong attention to detail and case management skills
- A creative approach to resolving complex tenancy issues
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (daily use required)
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- This role is inside IR35
- Interviews will be conducted face-to-face
- Candidates must be able to provide full work history and references
