At Civic Recruitment and Limited, we know that individuals are more than just fixed expenses; they are the cornerstone of every thriving organisation. That's why we are passionate about transforming recruitment in the public and private sectors.

In the modern job market, organisations in both public and private sectors face significant workforce challenges. Public sector entities, such as local councils and central government departments, often struggle with lengthy recruitment processes, limited access to qualified candidates, and stringent budgetary and regulatory constraints. Private sector businesses, on the other hand, encounter high turnover rates, difficulties managing a mix of permanent and temporary staff, and challenges in sourcing specialised talent for niche industries.

These sector-specific obstacles, coupled with the universal complexities of payroll management, create a pressing need for efficient workforce solutions.

Civic Recruitment Limited addresses these challenges with innovative recruitment and payroll solutions tailored for diverse organisational needs. Recognising the critical hurdles organisations face, the company leverages its expertise to streamline processes, reduce recruitment times, and alleviate administrative burdens. With an extensive database of over 1 million pre-screened candidates, Civic Recruitment Limited is well‑positioned to cater to the specific needs of both public and private sectors.

Job Purpose

As a SEND Progression Mentor within the Gateway Team, you will provide person‑centred, outcome‑focused support to young people and adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Sensory Needs, Physical Disabilities, or a combination of these needs. Working in the community, at the Southwark Resource Centre, and other appropriate locations, you will deliver strength‑based, time‑limited interventions that promote independence, wellbeing, social inclusion, and progression in line with each individual's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

You will work flexibly to support individuals with varying levels of need, including those who may present behaviours of concern, using a positive behaviour support approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver person‑centred, strength‑based and outcome‑focused interventions that support individuals in achieving the outcomes identified within their EHCP.
  • Provide tailored support that develops communication skills, encourages participation in meaningful activities, and promotes greater independence.
  • Act as a key worker, building positive relationships with individuals, their families, carers, and wider support networks to identify and achieve personalised goals.
  • Plan and deliver interventions that maximise social inclusion, wellbeing, resilience, and independent living skills.
  • Support individuals to access local community resources, voluntary sector organisations, education, training, employment, and social opportunities where appropriate.
  • Identify and utilise local assets, support networks, and community services to enhance each individual's independence and quality of life.
  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to individuals and their support networks, enabling informed choices and greater control over the support they receive.
  • Work flexibly with individuals who have a broad range of needs, including supporting those whose behaviour may be challenging, using positive behaviour support principles.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor progress against agreed outcomes, and contribute to reviews and service planning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, professionals, and partner organisations to ensure coordinated and effective support.
Requirements
  • Experience supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Sensory Needs, Physical Disabilities, or complex additional needs.
  • A person‑centred, strengths‑based approach to supporting individuals to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support and the ability to respond appropriately to behaviours of concern.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with individuals, families, carers, and professionals.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and deliver tailored interventions that promote independence and social inclusion.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services, or the ability to develop strong local networks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good written and IT skills to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • A flexible approach to working across different locations and supporting individuals with varying levels of need.
