Position: Financial Assessment Manager (LWA)

Perceval House, Ealing or council hubs throughout the borough. (with a requirement to work from the office at least two or three days per week, or as needed by the service)

Ealing Council has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Financial Assessment Manager to lead one of three Financial Assessment Teams.

Initially, this role will focus on leading the Local Welfare Assistance team, ensuring high-quality assessments and fair, timely decisions across discretionary schemes and mobility assessment functions.

As Financial Assessment Manager, you will support the Local Welfare Assistance team to help residents experiencing financial hardship access timely, appropriate support while working with partners and communities to build resilience and improve outcomes.

You will contribute to the council’s connected communities by strengthening access to support and helping services respond effectively to residents’ needs.

You will manage the Crisis Resilience Fund, launched on 1 April 2026, ensuring residents can access crisis support, budgeting and debt advice, and wider resilience services. You will also oversee commissioned providers, maintain continuous service delivery and develop strong partnerships with internal teams, including housing and social care and external voluntary sector organisations.

You will managing discretionary spend, keeping services within budget, improving the customer experience and driving continuous improvement.

The LWA team comprises 24 officers: 19 Local Welfare Officers, 2 Senior Officers and 3 Welfare Benefits Support Officers. The team is divided into two sub-teams, each led by a manager responsible for staff management, performance and delivery against corporate and statutory priorities.

This is a career-grade post, Scale 12-14
, offering progression for candidates who demonstrate increasing responsibility, leadership and strategic impact.
