Mental Health Advisor FTE FTC

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Mental Health Adviser to support learners with mental health concerns and wellbeing needs. Working closely with the Group Mental Health & Wellbeing Manager, you will provide guidance, advocacy and early intervention support, helping students access the services they need to succeed. You will play a key role in promoting mental health awareness, developing partnerships with external organisations, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

• Provide support, guidance and advocacy for learners experiencing mental health concerns and conditions.
• Operate a triage and referral service for students who are referred or self-refer to the Mental Health & Wellbeing team.
• Deliver mental health awareness training and workshops across college campuses.
• Build and maintain effective partnerships with external mental health agencies, community organisations and NHS services.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor interventions and evaluate the impact of support provided.
• Provide information, resources and signposting to students and staff on mental health and wellbeing matters.
• Track learner progress and provide targeted support to improve retention and achievement.
• Organise and support mental health awareness events and campaigns throughout the year.
• Keep up to date with developments in mental health support and share best practice across the organisation.

• Qualified in mental health or able to demonstrate substantial experience working within the mental health field.
• Experienced in supporting young people and adults with a range of mental health needs.
• Knowledgeable about safeguarding, child protection and mental health‑related issues.
• A confident communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and external partners.
• Passionate about promoting wellbeing, inclusion and equal opportunities.
• Highly organised, with strong record‑keeping and case‑management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and digital record systems.
• Enthusiastic, resilient and committed to making a positive difference to the lives of learners.
