We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Mentor to join our Community & Voluntary Team within the Hillingdon Youth Offer. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with children and young people, providing targeted mentoring support that helps build confidence, resilience and positive outcomes.

This is a part-time position working 9 hours per week throughout the year. Please note that the advertised salary will be pro‑rated. Working hours may include afternoons, evenings, weekends and, on occasion, residential activities.

The Community & Voluntary Team delivers high‑quality, targeted youth work across Hillingdon, working in partnership with statutory, community and voluntary sector organisations.

Our work includes one-to-one mentoring, group work, targeted interventions and holiday programmes designed to support children and young people to develop their skills, confidence and aspirations.

Using a strengths-based and needs-led approach, we create safe and supportive environments where young people can grow, make informed choices and develop positive relationships with their communities.

As a Mentor, you will support the delivery of our Mentoring Programme, working with children and young people across the borough. You will build trusted relationships, provide guidance and encouragement, and help young people identify and achieve personal goals.

Working closely with colleagues, families and partner organisations, you will contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of mentoring interventions that support personal, social and emotional development.

You will:

• Deliver one-to-one mentoring and targeted support to children and young people.
• Build positive, professional relationships that encourage engagement and participation.
• Support young people to increase their confidence, resilience and independence.
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of group activities and interventions.
• Work collaboratively with partner organisations and community groups.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes.
• Promote inclusion, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people.
• Support young people to recognise, value and respect difference within diverse communities.

You will have experience of working with children and young people in community, youth work, educational or similar settings and will understand the challenges and opportunities facing young people today.

No specific qualification is required for this role. Full training and support will be provided as part of your induction. Most importantly, we're looking for individuals who are committed to learning, developing and helping young people succeed.
