Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

Remedy Education are looking for an experienced Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to join a specialist SEMH setting.

This is a great opportunity for a calm, resilient and compassionate professional who can lead on student wellbeing, mental health support and safeguarding across the school. The role will involve working closely with the Headteacher, DSL, SENCO, families and external agencies to ensure pupils feel safe, supported and able to engage with learning.

The Role:
  • Lead and support whole-school mental health, wellbeing and safeguarding provision
  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group emotional regulation interventions
  • Support pupils with SEMH, trauma, anxiety, EBSA and emotional dysregulation
  • Deputise for the DSL when required, including managing concerns, disclosures and referrals
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding records using systems such as CPOMS or My Concern
  • Work with CAMHS, social care, local authorities and other external agencies
  • Attend and contribute to safeguarding, CIN, CP and multi-agency meetings
  • Deliver staff guidance and CPD around safeguarding, de-escalation and trauma-informed practice
  • Support parents and carers with advice around emotional wellbeing and child safety
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience working with children or young people with complex SEMH needs
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience making referrals
  • Level 3 safeguarding or DSL/DDSL training
  • A background in mental health, wellbeing, pastoral care, counselling, psychology, social work or education
  • Confidence managing challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills
  • Experience with in an SEMH school, PRU or Alternative Provision is highly desirable
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
