Engineering Manager; mobile – Global Entertainment

I’m hiring an Engineering Manager to help build a brand‑new mobile team for a global commerce platform used by millions! Its a very exciting project for the business and this hire will see you manage and grow a team of native Mobile Engineers (iOS/ Android).

They are ideally looking for someone who has worked in e‑commerce, retail, ticketing, travel, or any environment where spikes, correctness, and resilience really matter.

You do not need to come from a mobile background but will need to have experience managing a high performing mobile team

What you’ll be doing

• Building and mentoring high‑performing engineering teams
• Creating clarity around priorities, delivery, and technical trade‑offs
• Owning execution across event‑driven, transactional backend systems
• Partnering with senior engineers on architecture, quality, and reliability
• Driving strong engineering practices across AWS, CI/CD, observability, and security
• Influencing product/strategy through clear, pragmatic communication
• Fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and continuous improvement

You won’t be coding every day, but you will be close to the tech and a key voice in engineering decisions.

Tech environment

• Node.js + Type Script backend (React/Next.js on the frontend) - Web
• AWS serverless stack (Lambda, API Gateway, Event Bridge, Dynamo
  
  DB)
• Event‑driven, real‑time and async workflows
• APIs powering multiple products and global partners
• Systems built to withstand massive demand and on‑sale moments

What they’re looking for

• Experience leading mobile engineering teams in fast‑moving environments
• Strong technical grounding (preferably with mobile OR Node/AWS)
• Background with cloud‑native or distributed systems
• Exposure to transactional, high‑traffic, or checkout‑style flows
• Clear communication and ability to influence across engineering & product
• E‑commerce, payments, ticketing, or marketplace experience
• Observability, incident response, or cost optimisation experience
• Experience scaling teams or working in distributed setups
