Full Stack Developer, Backend Developer
Location: Greater London
Referment is working with a highly regarded boutique asset management firm to hire a mid-level Software Developer to join a small, high-impact technology team.
This role is ideal for a developer with 3–5 years' experience who enjoys building real production systems, working closely with the business, and thinking carefully about how software should be designed, scaled, and maintained, without unnecessary complexity.
The roleYou’ll work across a broad internal technology stack, helping to design, build, and improve systems that support a successful fixed income investment platform. The work is hands‑on, varied, and highly visible.
Key Responsibilities Include- Designing, developing, and maintaining internal applications using C#/.NET, ASP.NET, SQL, and React
- Working on cloud‑based systems across Azure and AWS
- Enhancing data pipelines, automation, and internal tooling
- Supporting and improving a position management system and data warehouse integrations
- Building and maintaining reporting and analytics tools used by the business
- Contributing to system design decisions, with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and clarity
- Working closely with business users to understand problems and translate them into technical solutions
- Writing well‑tested code and deploying via Git and CI/CD pipelines
While development is the primary focus, there is scope to take on more business‑facing / BA‑style responsibility over time if that’s something you enjoy and want to grow into.
What They’re Looking For- 3–5 years' commercial experience as a software developer
- Strong C#/.NET backend fundamentals
- Full‑stack experience (frontend experience with React or similar)
- Someone who can talk clearly about systems they’ve worked on, why they were designed a certain way, and the trade‑offs involved
- Comfortable taking ownership and working across the stack
- Curious, bright, and motivated to keep learning
- Enjoys working in a small, collaborative team
Asset management experience is a nice to have, not a requirement. Strong developers without financial services experience are absolutely encouraged to apply.
Why this role?- Join a high‑performing boutique asset manager with an excellent reputation
- Work on meaningful systems that directly support investment decision‑making
- High visibility and close collaboration with the business
- Hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 from home)
- Competitive salary and bonus
- A role that can grow with you, whether you want to stay deeply technical or broaden into more business‑facing work over time
If you’re a developer who likes thinking about systems, not just tickets, and wants to work somewhere where your work genuinely matters, we’d love to speak with you.
