Principal Tech Team Lead (Front End) – Tech Strategy & Team Leadership | AI‑Native SaaS

Up to £130,000 per annum plus benefits.

We have been engaged by a rapidly scaling Agentic AI-driven SaaS business to hire a Principal Tech Team Lead (Front End) to help shape the next phase of its engineering growth. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this is a high‑impact leadership role combining technical strategy, people leadership, and hands‑on engineering within a modern product‑led environment. The company is entering a major growth phase following its Series B round, launching new products and scaling its engineering organisation significantly over the next 12–24 months.

You will lead a growing frontend function, managing three Front End Tech Team Leads while driving architectural consistency, engineering standards and technical direction across multiple squads. Working in cross‑functional squads, there are currently 10–12 Front End Engineers and this is planned to grow to ~20 Front End Engineers and two more Tech Team Leads in the next year.

This role would suit someone who enjoys operating at scale, influencing engineering strategy, mentoring technical leaders, and still spending meaningful time in a hands‑on capacity.

You’ll play a key role in shaping frontend architecture and engineering culture across a fast‑growing SaaS business. The environment is highly collaborative, autonomous and experimentation‑led, with strong investment in AI tooling and developer productivity.

• Lead and mentor Front End Tech Team Leads across multiple cross‑functional squads
• Define front end architecture and engineering standards
• Influence technical decisions for major new product launches
• Drive consistency across the platform, tooling and developer experience
• Help scale engineering structures, processes, and ways of working
• Hands‑on technical contributions to proof‑of‑concepts, spikes and technical initiatives
• Shape how AI tooling is adopted across engineering teams
• Build and develop high‑performing frontend engineers and future leaders
