Senior Digital Developer - Python​/Django SC Cleared

Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year

• Strong hands‑on experience with Python and Django in production environments
• Experience operating at Senior Developer or Tech Lead level within agile, multi‑disciplinary teams
• Proven ability to apply secure coding practices and modern development standards
• Experience building and integrating APIs, microservices, and distributed systems

• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is desirable
• Familiarity with public sector digital service standards and best practices is desirable

• Lead the design and development of full‑stack features using Python and Django
• Act as a senior technical lead within a multi‑disciplinary squad including Business Analysis, User‑Centred Design, and Engineering
• Write clean, secure, and maintainable code using test‑driven development principles
• Design and deliver scalable, resilient, and high‑performing systems aligned to modern engineering standards
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define and deliver user‑focused solutions
• Manage service components to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets
• Embed security controls into system design to mitigate risks and threats
• Coordinate integration, build activities, and support testing across multiple systems
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve faults, defects, and performance issues
• Support and operate live production services, ensuring reliability, resilience, and stability
• Apply appropriate design standards, tools, and development methodologies effectively
• Review system designs to ensure efficient use of resources and appropriate technology choices
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Mentor and guide engineers, supporting capability development within the team
• Contribute to the delivery of high‑impact digital services at scale within a regulated environment

We are a high‑profile public sector subsidiary delivering critical digital services at national scale. Based in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, or Darlington, this is a 12‑month contract role with an IR35 status in scope and a pay rate of £750 per day. We operate within a modern Digital, Data and Technology function and offer the opportunity to work in a multi‑disciplinary team building secure, scalable, user‑centric services.

This role includes a requirement for Security Clearance and provides the chance to help deliver services that matter at scale.
