We’re working with an established software company that develops enterprise SaaS products used by organisations to manage connected workplaces, operational data and smart building technology.
As the platform continues to evolve, they’re looking for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to help shape the next generation of backend services. This is an opportunity to work on a product with genuine technical complexity, combining distributed systems, integrations, cloud technologies and event‑driven architecture.
What you’ll be working on- Designing and developing modern Java services using Spring Boot
- Building scalable APIs and microservices
- Developing event‑driven solutions using messaging technologies
- Creating integrations with enterprise systems and connected devices
- Improving performance, scalability and resilience across the platform
- Supporting cloud deployments, observability and production reliability
- Contributing to architectural decisions and engineering standards
- Mentoring developers and driving technical best practice
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Influence the technical direction of a growing SaaS platform.
- Work on genuinely challenging engineering problems rather than simple CRUD applications.
- Build distributed systems that integrate with real‑world technology and enterprise platforms.

- Strong Java and Spring Boot experience
- Microservices and REST API development
- Experience with event‑driven architectures or messaging platforms
- SQL and relational database experience
- Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD exposure
- Experience supporting production software
- £65,000–£90,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid working with flexible hours
