UI Developer

London – Currys London Campus at Waterloo

Permanent, Full Time, Grade 3

At Currys we’re united by one passion: to help everyone enjoy amazing technology. As the UK’s best‑known retailer of tech, we’re proud of the service our customers receive – and it’s all down to our team of 25,000 caring and committed colleagues. Working as one team, we learn and grow together, celebrating the big and small moments that make every day amazing.

As our B2B Optimisation UI Developer you’ll be part of the Digital team working on our Currys Business eCommerce experience, reporting into the Optimisation Development Manager. You’ll be at the heart of fast‑moving roadmap delivery, shaping how we drive Digital/eCommerce growth through best‑in‑class, personalised experiences – building and running experiments, then carrying winning variants all the way through to production.

You’ll collaborate with Product Owners, designers and analysts to bring testing ideas to life. Transforming insights and hypotheses into real, measurable experiments using Dynamic Yield and ensuring what works gets built properly into the site.

Role overview

As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with the B2B Digital Product squad to ideate and develop A/B and personalisation experiences as part of our product roadmap
  • Build responsive, mobile‑first test experiences using HTML5, CSS/SCSS, jQuery and Java Script
  • Work with Figma design files to implement test variants accurately
  • Product ionise winning test variants by refactoring Dynamic Yield experiment code into the site's core codebase, meeting production standards for code quality, cross‑browser compatibility, performance and accessibility
  • Follow Git version control practices including branching, pull requests and code review
  • Communicate progress, technical decisions and the impact of changes clearly to your team lead
  • Work with QA testers to ensure all code meets brief and quality standards
  • Participate in agile scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, refinement, stand‑ups, demos, and retros
  • Keep up to date with developments in the technologies we use
You will need
  • Strong front‑end fundamentals: HTML5, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, jQuery and DOM manipulation
  • An understanding of Java and object‑oriented programming principles is advantageous
  • Hands‑on experience with Dynamic Yield or a comparable A/B testing and personalisation platform, including custom code templates, page context configuration, anti‑flicker implementation and custom event tracking
  • Ability to refactor experiment code into clean, maintainable production‑ready code suitable for integration into a server‑rendered ecommerce platform
  • Understanding of CSS, specificity isolation techniques and Core Web Vitals (particularly CLS) as they apply to client‑side content injection
  • Accessibility awareness to WCAG 2.1 AA standard
  • Confident use of browser Dev Tools for debugging injected experiences
  • Experience with Git and working within a standard pull request / code review workflow
  • Understanding of UX and how to translate it into optimal, performant front‑end experiences
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices
  • 2 + years of front‑end developer experience, ideally in an ecommerce or optimisation context
Benefits
  • 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holiday entitlement) and a competitive pension scheme
  • Annual bonus
  • Hybrid working
  • Tech discounts
