This role is with one of Dex's trusted partner companies. We work closely with their teams to truly understand their culture, goals, and what they're looking for, so we can match you with the right opportunity and give you context about the role before you commit to a process.
Dex is an AI recruiter agent that helps you run your job search. Tell Dex your stack, seniority, and what you want to build. We will manage your applications and surface other opportunities that are a fit.
The role This is an AI biology lab building world models of immune disease. They tackle one of medicine's least understood areas, where current therapies fail 80-90% of patients. You'll work with petabytes of proprietary patient data, generated in partnership with academic medical centres and pharma, to train models that predict drug response. They're backed by leading investors and have significant compute resources.
As an early technical hire, you'll design, train, and evaluate deep learning models over high-dimensional molecular and clinical datasets. This isn't just model-building in notebooks; you'll also build the training infrastructure that lets a small team run ambitious experiments quickly. Expect to define evaluation frameworks, set technical standards, and build systems that reason over biology, generate hypotheses, and learn from feedback.
The work
:
- Design, train, and evaluate deep learning models on proprietary, high-dimensional biological and clinical datasets.
- Build and optimize training infrastructure to enable rapid, ambitious experimentation for a small, intense team.
- Develop robust evaluation frameworks for biological prediction, moving beyond standard ML metrics.
- Help define the technical stack and research standards for an early-stage AI biology lab.
- Contribute to systems that reason over complex biological data, generate hypotheses, and improve through feedback loops.
What You Bring
:
- Elite ML/DL depth: a first-principles grasp of fundamentals and experience building research-grade models.
- Proven ability to design experiments, diagnose failure modes, and drive solutions autonomously.
- Experience building scalable training infrastructure, not just isolated models.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, taking ownership of hard problems in a small, intense team.
- Ability to work from the Liverpool Street office five days a week.
Why apply through Dex
:
This is a rare, early-stage role at an anonymous AI biology lab, not one you'll find easily. Apply through Dex to skip the cold application process, get a full briefing on the company and role, and explore other similar opportunities tailored to your profile. We help you cut through the noise and connect directly with roles that truly fit.
