Software Engineer – Finance & Regulatory Reporting
We are recruiting a Software Engineer to build the data pipelines and applications supporting finance and regulatory reporting for a new financial-markets platform.
This is a software engineering position with a reporting and data focus - not a traditional finance or regulatory-reporting operations role.
You will be writing code, building ETL pipelines, developing automated controls and owning the movement of trade and position data from the core trading platform through to finance and regulatory-reporting outputs.
The work covers two main areas:- Finance reporting – daily and periodic reporting, reconciliations and financial-control processes
- Regulatory reporting – building and maintaining data flows and submissions to external reporting providers, repositories and regulators
- Building and maintaining Python and Java ETL pipelines
- Moving trade, position and reference data from the core platform into reporting datasets
- Developing automated reconciliation and data-quality controls
- Investigating reporting breaks and data discrepancies
- Building validation, exception-management and monitoring processes
- Developing SQL queries and data-transformation processes
- Supporting regulatory-reporting and vendor integrations
- Automating data preparation and submission workflows
- Testing reporting outputs for accuracy, completeness and timeliness
- Working with technology, finance, operations and regulatory stakeholders
- Helping improve and replace manual or spreadsheet-heavy processes
Although reporting is the primary focus, you will be part of the wider engineering team and will have opportunities to contribute to trading, lifecycle and core-platform development as the system grows.
Technology What we're looking for- Solid working knowledge of Java and/or Python
- Strong SQL and relational-database skills
- Experience working with data pipelines, ETL or data-intensive applications
- Comfortable working in Linux environments
- Good software-development fundamentals
- A careful and methodical approach to data accuracy
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Financial or regulatory reporting
- Finance systems
- Transaction reporting
- Data-quality or control frameworks
- Workflow orchestration
- APIs and third-party integrations
- AWS or another major cloud platform
- Kafka or event-driven architectures
Previous financial-services experience is useful, but the emphasis is on finding a strong software engineer who enjoys working with data, reporting and complex workflows.
The role offers significant scope to develop across software engineering, data engineering and financial markets, with opportunities to move into broader platform development as your experience grows.
