Senior Software Engineer

This Senior Software Engineer position focuses on liaising with engineering divisions to ensure systems correctly reflects any proposed changes to existing services.

They are used by 24/7 network operations controllers, system design engineers, managers across Viasat, Value Added Resellers (VARs) and Distribution Partners (DPs) to monitor, measure and interpret network and service performance.

• You’ll need experience in documenting your own software development work for future reference and support
• Practical experience of whole software development lifecycle, producing high quality re-useable code in a team environment
• You’ll need experience with event streaming platforms, such as Kafka

• You’ll need experience of Windows and Linux operating systems
• Good understanding of IP networks and exposure to network troubleshooting using Wireshark or similar tools

• Support teams to answer customer questions and help resolve customer network issues, identify and resolve software bugs
• Support Billing/Assurance Operational teams with fault finding/diagnosis
• Have ownership of both internal and external stakeholder relationships, working with product managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and third-party vendors
