Location: Greater London
- Prototype new product concepts in React/Type Script or similar at varying levels of fidelity
- Design and build the user-facing layer of new products end to end, including interaction design, information architecture, visual design, motion, and front-end code
- Integrate Pearson products and third-party enterprise systems into cohesive user experiences
- Establish lightweight design foundations, including patterns, components, and tokens
- Plan and run usability sessions, concept tests, and prototype-based validation with the product manager
- Build products accessible by default and apply WCAG conformance
- Flex between coding, research, facilitation, and design according to product needs
- Collaborate as a senior individual contributor with design engineers, product engineers, product managers, Pearson teams, and enterprise clients
- Take new product concepts from initial sketch through interactive prototype to production-quality interface and client validation
- Relevant experience spanning product design and front-end engineering in any mix
- Portfolio of shipped products and prototypes
- Strong front-end skills in modern Type Script/JavaScript, React or a comparable framework, and CSS
- Design skills in typography, layout, color, interaction, and motion
- Fluency with Figma
- Fluency with AI-assisted workflows such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot
- Experience designing for complex systems, multi-role products, data-heavy interfaces, or integration-rich enterprise environments
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG, and practical application of them
- Autonomy in ambiguous, zero-to-one contexts
- Communication skills to influence and collaborate with others
- Nice to have: involvement with W3C or WHATWG
- Nice to have: familiarity with LTI, SCORM, xAPI, QTI, Caliper, and LMS/LXP platforms
- Nice to have: committee or working-group experience
- Nice to have: user research, design research, or academic research experience
Demonstrates expertise in product design and front-end engineering, with strong skills in React, Type Script, and accessibility standards such as WCAG. Capable of creating cohesive user experiences through effective collaboration and design methodologies.
