Java Application Developer

A leading organisation within the Energy & Utilities sector is seeking an experienced Java Application Developer to support the delivery of business-critical applications within a modern cloud-native environment.

£520 p/d Inside IR35
Mainly Remote (1 day a week in London, the rest is WFH)
6 month+ contract
In the role you will design, develop and support scalable backend services using Java, working within a microservices and event-driven architecture.

Key responsibilities

Develop backend services using Java.
Build and support event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.
Deliver scalable microservices-based applications.
Participate in design, development, testing and deployment activities.
Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
Support cloud-native deployments and production environments.
Contribute to Agile delivery and continuous improvement.
Essential skills and experience

Strong commercial Java development experience.
Hands-on Apache Kafka experience.

Experience with microservices architectures.
Understanding of cloud-native development.
Experience working in Agile teams.
Ability to support and optimise production applications.
Desirable skills and experience

Open Shift experience.
Containerisation and cloud deployment technologies.
CI/CD and Dev Ops knowledge.

Experience with in large-scale transformation programmes.
