Since 2014, we’ve been bringing imagination to life through world-class technology and extraordinary talent. As a global studio spanning Scanning, Mocap, VFX and Animation, our employees are part of shaping what’s next.
The RoleWe are hiring experienced Senior Realtime TDs / Technical Artists to join Goodbye Kansas Studios for an exciting upcoming AAA game collaboration and co-development project focused on high-end in-game cinema tics.
We're looking for highly technical, self-sufficient artists who are comfortable solving problems hands-on. You'll be able to move between Unreal Engine, scripting, tools and pipeline development, helping artists work more effectively and solving technical challenges as they emerge. Working closely with our Realtime Supervisor and teams across Realtime, Pipeline, Animation, FX and Production, you'll help establish practical, scalable workflows while supporting teams to achieve ambitious visual targets.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of AAA games and cinematic VFX, bringing Goodbye Kansas' visual storytelling experience directly into realtime game production. You'll contribute both creatively and technically, from pre-production and pipeline development through to hands‑on production and final delivery.
What you’ll be doing- Develop tools and workflows that make realtime production faster, more reliable and easier for artists to use.
- Write scripts and technical solutions using Python, Blueprints and other relevant programming languages.
- Build, maintain and improve Unreal Engine workflows across projects.
- Support the import and integration of Animation, FX and other production assets into Unreal Engine.
- Troubleshoot technical and pipeline issues independently, developing solutions that unblock artists and production teams.
- Enable teams to deliver high‑quality realtime shots and sequences, including scene assembly, lighting, look development and optimisation.
- Support pre‑production by helping define project‑specific realtime workflows, technical approaches and feasibility.
- Evaluate existing pipelines and identify technical gaps, risks and opportunities for R&D.
- Integrate client assets into the Goodbye Kansas pipeline, ensuring they meet both client and internal technical requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Animation, CFX, FX, Lighting and other departments to ensure assets and simulations function effectively in engine.
- Monitor performance across scenes and sequences, identifying optimisation requirements and communicating technical constraints clearly.
- Provide technical guidance to artists and help establish consistent realtime practices across projects.
- Strong professional experience as a Realtime TD, Technical Artist, Tools Engineer or similar technical realtime role, ideally at Senior or Lead level.
- Advanced working knowledge of Unreal Engine gained through commercial AAA games, cinema tics, virtual production or other high‑end realtime projects.
- Strong scripting or programming ability, with experience creating production tools rather than solely using existing workflows.
- Experience with Python, Blueprints or other relevant scripting and programming languages.
- The ability to work independently, investigate unfamiliar technical problems and develop practical solutions.
- Experience developing, maintaining or improving artist‑facing tools and realtime production workflows.
- Experience integrating Animation and FX into Unreal Engine and troubleshooting associated pipeline issues.
- Experience working with realtime assets, levels, materials, shaders and rendering workflows.
- Good understanding of realtime performance, profiling and optimisation.
- Experience…
