Staff Software Engineer – AI
London | £200,000–£250,000 Base + Equity | On-site
We’re working with a fast-growing, well-funded AI company in London that is building autonomous AI voice agents used by businesses to manage customer interactions, bookings and operations.
They’re looking for an exceptional Staff Software Engineer to join a small, highly technical team and play a major role in shaping both the product and technical direction.
This is a genuinely hands-on Staff-level role. You’ll work across the core product, building and shipping production AI systems while solving complex backend, infrastructure and distributed systems challenges.
What you’ll be doing- Building and shipping core product features across Python, Type Script and cloud infrastructure
- Designing scalable, event-driven and distributed systems
- Developing and integrating AI-powered product functionality
- Working directly with customers to understand problems and turn them into technical solutions
- Taking ownership from initial idea and architecture through to production
- Helping establish engineering standards around reliability, testing, security and scalability
- Moving quickly when required, while knowing when to invest in longer-term engineering foundations
- 8+ years of strong software engineering experience
- Excellent Python and backend engineering skills
- Experience building and shipping AI/ML or LLM-based products
- Strong knowledge of distributed and event-driven systems
- Cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes
- Experience with in fast-moving product or startup environments
- Comfortable operating across architecture, coding and delivery
- Someone who enjoys building 0→1 products and taking genuine ownership
- Type Script experience would be beneficial
- Voice AI or conversational AI experience would be particularly interesting

Salary: £200,000–£250,000 base + competitive equity
