Python Developer

I'm working with a self-funded market intelligence business in London who are hiring a Backend Engineer to build the APIs their biggest clients plug straight into. Their SaaS platform spots market-moving events early, so clients can act before the news is widely reported.

It's a small, profitable team. You'll work in Python, Postgres and AWS, sitting next to the co-founder three days a week, with the room and the backing to lead how the whole business uses AI.

• Python: six months to three years of commercial backend experience
• APIs: building and consuming them
• SQL and relational data modelling
• AI tooling:
  Claude, Copilot, Cursor or similar in your daily work
• You'll bring ideas on tooling and process, and you'll push for them
• You're keen to learn and open to feedback from senior engineers

• Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Data pipelines: fetching external data and building tables
• React, alongside the full-stack engineers

• Trading, pricing or market data experience
• LLM features in production, beyond coding assistants

Your first project is connecting the platform directly to clients through APIs, starting with their trading clients. The client list runs from financial institutions to well-known consumer brands.

• You'll own AI for the business, finding uses well beyond engineering and championing them across the company.
• You'll have the co-founder's ear, with the freedom to recommend and make changes to tooling and direction.
• You'll learn from two senior full-stack engineers, one alongside you in the office.
