Backend Engineer; AI Native

They're now looking for an exceptional Backend Engineer to help build and scale the foundational infrastructure powering their platform. Joining a small, highly talented engineering team, you'll have genuine ownership, tackle complex technical challenges and help shape technology being adopted by some of the world's largest businesses.
The challenge ahead:
This isn't a role where you'll simply maintain existing systems or work through a backlog of tickets. You will be building the infrastructure that allows an AI native platform to scale, supporting product teams as they develop and deliver increasingly sophisticated solutions for enterprise customers.
The technical challenges are substantial. The platform processes tens of millions of lines of code per customer, generating large scale LLM workloads while meeting the reliability, security and performance requirements of global enterprises. In this role, you will have the freedom to influence architecture, make important technical decisions and build systems that can scale alongside the business.
Your impact:

Building scalable infrastructure:
Designing and developing backend systems capable of supporting enterprise scale workloads.

Enabling engineering teams:
Creating shared abstractions, internal tooling and infrastructure that allow product engineers to build and ship faster.

Solving complex AI challenges:
Working with high volume LLM workloads, token throughput, real time processing and external provider reliability.

Engineering for scale:
Developing resilient distributed systems, optimising databases and managing large scale processing.

Owning technical decisions:
Taking responsibility for architecture, performance, observability, authentication and job orchestration.

Driving engineering standards:
Helping shape best practices, improve developer experience and build reliable systems from the outset.
Is this you?
They're interested in engineers who enjoy solving difficult problems, take ownership of their work and thrive in fast moving environments.
You'll ideally bring:3+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally with exposure to platform engineering or infrastructure.

Strong system design skills and experience building production grade systems.

Experience working with distributed systems, PostgreSQL, queueing systems and large scale batch processing.

An understanding of performance optimisation, benchmarking and scaling systems under demand.

Exposure to LLM infrastructure or AI native applications.

The ability to take ownership of problems across APIs, infrastructure and data flows.

A pragmatic engineering mindset, with the confidence to make decisions and challenge existing approaches.
You don't need experience with every technology in their stack. They're far more interested in strong engineering fundamentals, problem-solving ability and people who can quickly learn new technologies.
