We're supporting a major financial services organisation on a large-scale cloud transformation programme and are looking for a senior AWS Cloud Application Engineer to help drive cloud adoption, improve developer experience, and establish engineering best practices across a complex enterprise environment.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced software engineer who enjoys working directly with development teams, solving complex technical challenges, and enabling the adoption of secure, cloud-native application development practices within a regulated environment.

• Design and implement AWS engineering standards, guardrails and reusable development patterns
• Support application modernisation and cloud migration initiatives
• Help engineering teams adopt AWS services, tooling and best practices
• Conduct technical research, proof-of-concepts and architecture assessments
• Drive improvements in developer experience and software delivery practices
• Partner with engineering, platform, security and architecture teams
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, coaching and mentoring
• Influence engineering direction and cloud adoption across multiple delivery teams

• Strong software engineering background with extensive AWS application development experience
• Deep understanding of AWS services, cloud-native architectures and developer tooling
• Experience with AWS Step Functions and distributed application architectures
• Strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices, CI/CD and automation
• Ability to operate in complex enterprise environments and influence technical decision-making
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proven experience driving adoption of new technologies, standards and engineering practices

• Previous experience within Financial Services, Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance or other regulated environments
• Experience working within governance, risk, compliance or security-focused engineering environments
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools
• Knowledge of containerised development environments
• Exposure to telemetry, engineering analytics and reporting
• Data engineering or analytics experience
