Backend Developer, Software Project Mgr/ Lead, Software Engineer
We’re working with a specialist enterprise SaaS business on a senior hire that sits across Product, Software Delivery and Engineering.
The business has reached a point where too much of the day-to-day technical product detail still sits with the founders. They are regularly being pulled into requirements, developer questions, integrations and delivery decisions when they should be focused on product strategy, customers and growth.
This hire is designed to remove that bottleneck.
You’ll act as the key link between the founders, customers, Business Analysts and an offshore development team, taking high-level requirements and turning them into clear, technically deliverable pieces of work.
What you’ll be doing:
- Translating customer and business requirements into clear technical briefs
- Breaking features down into developer-ready work
- Owning and managing the product backlog
- Working directly with engineers around APIs, integrations and technical approaches
- Challenging requirements and technical decisions where needed
- Resolving ambiguity before it slows down delivery
- Driving features from initial requirement through to successful release
- Providing technical and delivery input into the wider product roadmap
What we’re looking for
You’ll need to be technically credible and comfortable operating close to software engineering.
The strongest candidates are likely to have experience across:
- Software engineering or development earlier in their career
- Technical Product Ownership
- APIs and systems integrations
- Technical specifications and requirements
- Delivering software features end to end
- Working directly with development teams
- Offshore or distributed engineering teams
This is not a traditional Delivery Manager role focused on ceremonies, reporting and timelines.
Equally, it is not a strategy-only Product Manager position.
The right person will enjoy understanding the problem, shaping the solution and taking ownership of getting it delivered.
You’ll work directly with the founders, have genuine influence over the product and play a key role in changing how the business delivers software.
There is real scope to bring ideas, challenge constructively and become a trusted technical/product partner to the leadership team.
Location: Central London, ideally 2 days per week in the office
Salary: Circa £100,000 base, with some flexibility depending on experience
