About

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer to provide specialist technical expertise across the Oracle database solutions that underpin our business systems. You will develop, maintain and enhance database components, data processes and system integrations to help deliver reliable and effective services for customers and colleagues.

Working independently within established standards and governance, you will use your technical judgement to deliver accurate, thoroughly tested changes. Your work will help improve system performance, streamline processes and reduce avoidable manual effort. You will also investigate technical issues, manage delivery risks and elevate matters appropriately, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to support successful outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Developing and optimising Oracle stored procedures, packages, functions and triggers.
  • SQL tuning, query optimisation, execution plan analysis and performance monitoring.
  • Designing effective indexing strategies and troubleshooting database performance issues.
  • ETL processes, data migration and complex data processing or automation routines.
  • Integrating REST APIs and SOAP web services, including data exchange and interface development.
  • Database architecture and design, with an understanding of reliable, maintainable solutions.

You should be organised, analytical and able to work through technical challenges methodically. Clear communication, sound judgement and a commitment to quality are important, as is the ability to work effectively within established governance and delivery standards.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and enhance Oracle database components to meet business and service requirements.
  • Create and optimise stored procedures, packages, functions and triggers.
  • Analyse execution plans, develop indexing strategies and monitor database performance.
  • Investigate and resolve database issues through structured troubleshooting and performance analysis.
  • Build and maintain system-to-system integrations, including interfaces using REST APIs and SOAP web services.
  • Support ETL, data migration, complex processing and automation activities.
  • Test technical changes thoroughly, document work appropriately and deliver within agreed standards.
  • Identify delivery risks, apply technical judgement and elevate issues when required.
  • Work with colleagues and relevant stakeholders to support dependable services and continuous improvement.
