Company Overview
Carbon Shipping is a Commercial and Technical Manager of Oil Tankers operating worldwide. The fleet currently comprises of MR, LR1 and LR2 Tankers.
Job SummaryCarbon is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Vessel Operator to join our Tanker operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient, and cost-effective voyage execution while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Ensure all shipping operations procedures and practices comply with global operating guidelines to maintain operational excellence
- Monitor daily performance and operational status of the assigned tanker fleet to optimize voyage outcomes
- Liaise proactively with vessels, charterers, shipbrokers, and ship agents to coordinate seamless fleet operations
- Execute voyages in strict accordance with Charter Party agreements to ensure contractual compliance
- Manage timely invoicing processes for freight, demurrage, and claims to support accurate financial tracking
- Handle claims and resolve charter party disputes for assigned vessels to protect company interests
- Monitor commercial performance of owned and time-chartered vessels to identify improvement opportunities
- Prepare monthly, yearly, and ad hoc performance reports to inform management decision-making
- Appoint and coordinate with agents to ensure efficient vessel turnaround and port operations
- Input operational data accurately into company systems to maintain up-to-date records
- Provide regular vessel performance feedback to General Manager and Manager to support strategic oversight
- Maintain strong relationships with charterers and brokers to facilitate ongoing collaboration
- Coordinate with vessel masters and managers during marine incidents to manage response and reporting
- Report and coordinate claims related to cargo shortages, contamination, and other operational issues
- Conduct vessel visits to build rapport with officers and crew, providing feedback to enhance onboard operations
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial operations of tankers with brokers or owners is strongly preferred
- Graduates from NTU/SMU Shipping Stream with relevant internship experience in tanker operations are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with a proactive approach to operational standards
- Proficient in using IT and technology tools to collaborate effectively with global offices and clients
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and maintain professional relationships
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and transparency in task execution
- Adaptable to fast-paced environments and capable of managing pressure effectively
- Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and learn continuously
