Our client is looking to recruit a Trainee Radio Communication Support Technician / Van Driver, with full training provided and a Personal Track Safety card (PTS card). This is a great opportunity to join a specialist company that supplies two‑way radio communication systems to the rail industry. They provide on‑site Radio Engineers to maintain, manage and assist with all communications requirements across the rail network, typically covering weekend maintenance works.
The Trainee Radio Communication Support Technician / Van Driver will be an integral part of track‑side safety operations within the Rail Industry. Due to the nature of the work, this role requires driving the company van from the office in Bishop's Stortford to various railway stations or locations across London, the Anglian region and other parts of the UK. Overnight accommodation is provided depending on the location.
This position involves working 3 out of 4 weekends per month and bank holidays, including both night and day shifts.
Other duties include delivery of mobile communication equipment to various rail depot sites across the UK.
Required- Commit to working weekends (3 out of 4 per month) and bank holidays.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Availability for overnight trips away.
- Ability to work both night and day shifts.
- Rail experience is desirable, but not essential.
- PTS is desirable, but not essential.
- Good communication and people skills are essential.
- Candidates must be located within commutable distance of Bishop's Stortford.
- The starting salary is circa £25,500 PA, with additional earning potential through overtime.
- Upon successful completion of the three‑month probationary period, the salary increases to approximately £27,500 PA.
- With overtime and allowances, total annual earnings can reach around £40,000 PA.
- Weekend Shift: Thursday to Sunday or Friday to Monday (includes Bank Holidays).
- When not working on the weekend shift, you will work at the Bishop's Stortford depot 7:30am to 3:30pm.
- Typical working week is 40 hours.
