DescriptionOur PCV Drivers provide a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to delivering a safe home-to-school transport operation, you may also operate the passenger lift and assist the Passenger Assistant with service users as required.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Any fines or tickets must be reported to the office promptly.
- Ensure mandatory vehicle checks are performed each time the vehicle is used to a standard acceptable on the road. Report any defects to the office.
- Secure all passengers and wheelchair users correctly in the appropriate location using the necessary safety equipment.
- Ensure the vehicle has adequate fuel for the journey and refuel as required or instructed.
- Clean the vehicle inside and out regularly, at least once a week.
- Remove and replace seating as required.
- Park the vehicle in the depot correctly, in pre-allocated bays when possible.
- Operate the passenger lift and other equipment used to assist passengers safely during boarding and alighting.
- Communicate with passengers and clients politely and informatively.
- Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as required.
- Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to deliver the service with a patient and level-headed attitude.
- Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Hold a CPC qualification card, with mandatory training kept up to date.
- Minimum of two years’ experience driving a bus or coach.
- Hold or be willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card.
- Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
- Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report.
- Contracts are 45 hours per week, 36 weeks of the year, worked on a split-shift basis covering AM and PM transport.
- Term-time only, rolled-up holiday pay entitlement is 12.07% of gross pay relating to work completed. This is paid each month, with no entitlement to additional paid annual leave during school term weeks.
