Ramp Driver

Location: London Heathrow Airport

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: £17.10 per hour

Working as a member of the Passenger Services team, you will drive the company’s ambi‑lifts or minibuses on the airfield to transfer passengers with reduced mobility between aircraft and the terminal. You will also drive electric buggies and push wheelchairs within the terminal building as required to assist passengers.

• Complete the daily Vehicle Check Sheet to maintain vehicle reliability and report any defects following the Vehicle Inspection procedure.
• Drive company vehicles safely, ensuring they are secure and operate with all safety systems active.
• Operate vehicles near aircraft using all required safety systems.
• Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle at all times.
• Wear PPE at all times when operating airside.
• Deliver or collect passengers at the aircraft door and assist with transfer into their seat or wheelchair using safe manual handling techniques.
• Perform Customer Care Agent duties in the terminal when required, including escorting passengers through security and boarding flights, or assisting arriving passengers through to baggage reclaim.
• Update the Allocator on job progress using PDA and radio.
• Observe all Heathrow airside driving requirements.
• Promote a safe and secure environment at all times.
• Operate and use all company equipment (aisle chairs, slings, porta‑ramp, tail lift) after training.
• Adhere to the accident and incident reporting procedure in all cases.
• Stay aware of airport updates (OANs/OSI).
• Adapt to roster and shift patterns affected by operational requirements, airport and airline schedules.
• Be able to work early starts, late finishes, nights, weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
• Always comply with airport bylaws when operating airside.

• Experience in a similar role or driving larger vehicles is an advantage.

• Minimum 3 years driving experience and a licence held.
• Age 23 and over for insurance purposes.
• Obtain an airside driving permit (including passing a driving medical with a colour‑blind test).
