Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour PAYE

Hours:

Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 17:00pm (40 hours per week)

Contract:

Full Time Temporary Assignment (4 Weeks) Kirklees Council are looking for four reliable and hardworking Refuse Collectors to join its Waste Services team on a full-time temporary basis for the next four weeks. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a frontline service that helps keep local communities clean, safe and environmentally sustainable. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will play a vital role in collecting household and commercial waste while delivering excellent customer service to residents across the borough.

Day-to-day of the role Collect household and commercial refuse, recycling and other waste materials. Collect refuse from bins, bags and designated collection points, including assisted collections.

Return bins safely and appropriately without causing obstruction. Assist with the collection of garden waste, bagged waste, bulky items and skip collections. Safely operate lifting equipment in line with risk assessments and operational procedures. Handle, load and dispose of waste in accordance with service standards and health and safety requirements. Report waste-related concerns, including missed collections, non-presented bins and overflowing bins.

Assist with recording operational information using in-cab technology and other systems. Maintain accurate records, including timesheets, accident reports and operational documentation. Provide information and guidance to residents regarding collection arrangements. Support the delivery of liners, bins and waste-sorting activities where required. Assist with additional environmental duties such as street cleaning, snow clearing, gritting and community clear-up projects. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.

Report accidents, defects, faults and repair requirements promptly. Required

Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a physically demanding role. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Good communication and customer service skills. A strong commitment to health and safety procedures. Reliability, punctuality and a positive work ethic. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Flexibility to support a range of waste and environmental services. Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling activities.

Able to safely lift, load and move waste materials throughout the working day. Comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Committed to maintaining a professional and positive image when interacting with the public. Able to follow procedures, instructions and safe systems of work. Benefits:
