Job Purpose And Summary

Within our Retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day and our Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients, encouraging immunizations, and escalating patient problems when necessary.
  • Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, and volunteer to travel to stores in the market as required.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training.
Immunization Responsibilities (Where Permissible)
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer them to the pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
  • Compliance with any additional legal and company standards.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus:
    • Concentrate on a task over a period of time.
    • Pivot quickly from one task to another.
    • Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation:
    • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
    • Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately.

    Skills:
    • Use and understand verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues.
    • Practice active listening, give full attention, and ask questions as appropriate.
  • Mathematical Reasoning:
    • Use math to solve problems such as calculating total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle counts.
  • Problem Resolution:
    • Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
