SNC is seeking a Flight Sciences Engineering Manager to lead and support a growing team of engineers within the fields of mass properties, aerodynamics, loads, flutter, flight dynamics, thermal and more.
As an Engineering Manager, you will manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services, cover a wide range of groundbreaking aerospace and defense technologies, represent the engineering flight sciences disciplines at all management‑level meetings, own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff, and provide technical direction as required. You will work closely with the program engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and help develop and implement solutions.

- Manage a team of engineers across the flight sciences disciplines deployed across programs at IAS.
- Program staffing – coordinate with multiple program teams to ensure the teams are set up for successful program execution.
- People – Flight Sciences Engineering hiring, resource management, professional development, development action plans, mentoring, and training.
- Process – Flight Sciences Engineering process compliance, development, improvement, training, metrics, and audits.
- Tools – Flight Sciences Engineering tool training, maintenance, and modernization.
- Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant technical experience, which includes 6+ years of management experience.
- Thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices.
- Experience with computer‑aided engineering tools, analysis, and simulation.
- Ability to work in multi‑disciplinary design and development teams.
- A strong technical foundation in systems engineering design principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering, analysis, and simulation tools.
- Self‑starter, flexible, and adaptable with excellent verbal, communication, and people skills.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.
- Previous management experience; exposure to recruiting employees; assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence.
- Experience with identifying and coordinating resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available/effective and programs are staffed and supported to achieve success.
- Understanding of how to prepare project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages.
- Ability to motivate and work with others.
- Prior exposure to working successfully in a highly collaborative, fast‑paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision.
- Background in the aerospace and defense industry, the US Department of Defense, or US military.
- Exposure to engineering simulation such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and thermal analysis using tools such as StarCCM+ or CFD++.
