Position OverviewKiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) is seeking an entry-level Process Engineer to be a part of our growing Engineering team that is developing industrial and water infrastructure solutions across North America. The role involves executing and evaluating project designs. The candidate will work independently on small projects or as part of a large multi‑discipline team on larger projects to develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support project execution.
Current drawing, technical tools, programs, and software will be used with a focus on design documentation creation and layout.

The Industrial Group projects span markets such as advanced technologies; industrial energy; drinking water; wastewater treatment and biosolids; desalination; industrial water; mining, minerals and metals; and process industries.
This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS or Lone Tree, CO office.
Responsibilities- Provide engineering design support for domestic and/or international EPC/EPCm/DB projects whose responsibilities include engineering studies, environmental permitting, conceptual and detailed design, plant layouts for industrial water/wastewater systems, water/wastewater treatment systems, desalination systems, biogas, bulk solids material handling, pump stations and pipeline conveyance, groundwater remediation, stormwater recycling, and other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, process piping, conveying systems, dust collection, general plant/facility utilities, compressed air, steam, and gas systems, on projects ranging from moderate to large in size and complexity.
- Develop and prepare water mass balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for system technologies including coagulation, flocculation, filtration, reverse osmosis (industrial and desalination), ion exchange, condensate polishing, wastewater treatment, chemical handling/storage/injection, sampling and analysis and other industrial systems including, but not limited to, bulk solids conveyors, dust collection equipment, bins/tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, and other process equipment.
- Develop and prepare design calculations and specifications for major engineered equipment associated with the above‑stated technologies.
- Develop and prepare design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and updating of project plans, schedules, and budgets in coordination with project discipline leadership to ensure successful project completion.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners including cross‑discipline, construction, vendors, and fabricator(s) to address process‑related issues or concerns.
- Support department managers in achieving performance goals for the department.
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification preferred.
