As a Mechanical Designer with us, you will be responsible for developing detailed piping and mechanical equipment and systems designs, layouts and 3D models for power generating plants, carbon capture plants and other related facilities. You could be involved in designing any or all of the following: steam cycle systems, boiler feed and condensate systems, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic, heat transfer systems, conveying systems, or air and gas systems.

District Overview

Location

This position can be based in any of the following office locations:
Lenexa, KS;
Lone Tree, CO;
Houston, TX;
Raleigh, NC;
Phoenix/Tempe, AZ;
New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ. For roles in Chattanooga, TN;
Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in‑office arrangement once the new office is established.

Responsibilities
  • Draft sketches, piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), plans, sections and details, drawings, equipment layout, and design/model in 3D for power plant systems which could include steam cycle systems, boiler feed and condensate, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic, heat transfer systems, conveying systems, rotating equipment (generators) systems, and Balance of plant systems (compressed air and gas systems, service water, HVAC). Designs include equipment layout and complete mechanical systems, including checking interferences and constructability.
  • Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Adhere to schedules and work assignments to ensure successful project completion.
  • Coordinate with other drafters, designers and team members assigned to a project or task, and support work progress and results.
  • Train and advise interns or new graduates.
  • Apply standard design practices with little or no supervision.
