Pay From: $20.00 per hour
MUST:
Experienced Phlebotomist 3 plus years as a Phlebotomist Must have a high school diploma Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds Must be able to function independently Certified as a Phlebotomist is highly preferred
Phlebotomist will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Performs phlebotomy and collects appropriate patient specimens as ordered, ensuring proper identification and specimen handling procedures are followed
- Obtains required pre-authorizations and completes appropriate consent forms, including Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABNs), prior to collecting specimens for limited-coverage tests
- Maintains accurate documentation in accordance with the quality assurance program, including accessioning logs, equipment records, and required checklists
- Maintains adequate inventory of laboratory and phlebotomy supplies and verifies that all supplies are current, viable, and suitable for patient use
- Prepares and sends specimens to reference laboratories for testing not performed in-house
- Processes incoming laboratory testing orders and ensures orders are accurately documented and handled in a timely manner
- Processes in-house and incoming laboratory reports and ensures results are appropriately documented and distributed
- Updates and maintains daily paperwork, laboratory logs, maintenance records, and other required documentation
- Properly identifies and bands patients prior to blood product transfusions and processes appropriately labeled specimens in accordance with local blood bank policies and procedures
- Operates designated laboratory equipment according to established procedures and manufacturer guidelines
- Uses laboratory equipment safely, effectively, and efficiently while maintaining equipment and work areas in accordance with established protocol
- Performs waived laboratory testing in accordance with CLIA requirements and accurately records lot numbers for controls, calibrators, and reagents used for waived testing
- Complies with applicable regulatory agency standards, OSHA requirements, and Universal Precautions
- Properly handles and disposes of biohazardous and other hazardous materials in accordance with established safety protocols
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment and restocks phlebotomy and laboratory areas as needed
