Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the operations of assigned business units within an assigned Geisinger Institute or region. Ensures the business units’ goals and objectives are aligned with the organization’s broader mission, vision, and strategies. Fosters and supports the creation of and marketing of new and existing health programs and products. Manages all fiscal and administrative aspects of assigned business units. Service lines to be potentially included in this role:
Ophthalmology, Urology, Oral Medicine and Plastic Surgery.

Job Duties
  • Responsible for operational activities and functions within the assigned business units.
  • Directly support functions within assigned business units.
  • Responsible for the overall operation and growth of the business units, in conjunction with physician leadership of the assigned business units.
  • Develops and implements business unit policies and procedures in conjunction with physician leadership of the assigned business units.
  • Establish long-range objectives and monitors financial performance of the business units with the physician leaders of the assigned business units.
  • Ensures effective, efficient, and cost-effective use of non-clinical resources in order to maintain a productive environment.
  • Provides direction to, holds accountable, develops, and evaluates non‑clinical staff in their performance of all goals and objectives of the business units and the organization.
  • Evaluates regularly the effectiveness of the business units’ organization and implements changes as necessary to promote strategic and operational effectiveness.
  • Develops and maintains effective liaison with management, physicians, patients, and employees.
  • Understands, supports, and participates in information technology, development, marketing, and public relations initiatives for the business unit and system.
  • Provides administrative support to achieve the objectives of medical education and clinical research.
  • Serves as a liaison with community and governing authorities.
  • Serves as facilitator and point person for the assigned business units.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to present in front of executive leaders (executive presence)
  • Strategic mindset (connect frontline work to performance metrics, identify growth strategies) and analytic mindset (use data to make business decisions)
  • Experience with creating and managing to a budget
  • Ability to balance priorities to drive performance while achieving financial performance and achieving volume metrics
  • Strong employee engagement practices
  • Experience in surgical area
  • Experience in Outpatient/ procedural area
  • 5-7+ years of senior management experience
Position Details

    Bachelor's Degree – Business Administration/Healthcare Management (Required), Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • Experience

    Minimum of 7 years – Managerial/Supervisory (Required), Minimum of 7 years – Healthcare (Required)

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment. Travel may be required.
