We are seeking an ideal candidate with strong experience leading site work preconstruction efforts on complex, alternative delivery projects. This role will drive site work estimates, earthwork and dewatering plans, constructability reviews, and risk analysis while serving as a subject matter expert with clients, designers, and engineers. The ideal candidate is also a collaborative leader who can mentor a small team and manage schedules, quantities, and subcontractor pricing.

Here's how a Site Work Preconstruction Manager for PCL Construction, Inc. within Civil West contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Leads the preconstruction efforts related to site work scopes of work in multiple alternative delivery projects.
  • Leads the site work components of estimates and reviews all associated bid documents.
  • Develops earthwork and temporary dewatering plans and leads estimate development of all site work related scopes.
  • Coordinates with a professional engineer to develop shoring systems.
  • Engages with client, design consultant, and geotechnical engineer throughout preconstruction as a site work subject matter expert.
  • Leads constructability review as it relates to site work activities.
  • Conducts detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate overall project requirements.
  • Ensures the completion of full quantity take-offs of all labor, equipment, and materials from project documents.
  • Recognizes risks related to project specific requirement, site, schedule and market conditions/constraints. Uses contract terms to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Solicits competitive pricing from subtrade partners and suppliers.
  • Establishes a critical path schedule for the sitework components of the estimate.
  • Leads a small team including mentoring and coaching reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or Trade experience or equivalent. Civil Engineering degree preferred.
  • 4 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, and 6 months of on‑site experience is preferred.
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting Geotechnical Reports and specifications related to site work.
  • Site work construction knowledge; understands specifications, drawings, materials, and methods and procedures as it relates to site work scopes of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with design consultants, stakeholders including the ability to solicit subtrade partners and suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of estimating software, advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
