Position

Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity
Effective Date: August 17, 2026 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: Assistant Professor classification salary is $74,652 to $158,688 per year; first-year salary range $103,008 to $106,008 per year.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field. Areas may include cybersecurity, computer and network security, hardware and embedded system security, cryptography, privacy-preserving computing, AI-driven security, and cloud or edge security. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion by August 1, 2026.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and related scholarly activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years of teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in computer engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, or related areas.
  • At least one year of Postdoctoral experience, especially in cybersecurity, computer and network security, hardware and embedded system security, cryptography, or trustworthy computing.
  • Experience successfully working with populations similar demographically and socioeconomically to the CSULB student body.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom.
Duties
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity, computer networks, and related areas. Instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, or any combination.
  • Contribute to development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the curriculum in cybersecurity, computer networks, and related technical fields.
  • Engage in sustained research and scholarly activities that result in peer-reviewed publications and external funding.
  • Advise and mentor students to support their academic and professional growth.
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and broader community.
