- Doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., Dr.PH., DSc, MD/DO) in Public Health or a closely related field including, but not limited to, program tracks/concentrations related to Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Global Health, Population Health, Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Digital Health, AI, Information Systems, Operations Research, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, Computational Neuroscience, Computer Science with emphasis on AI or a closely related discipline
- If terminal degree is not in Public Health, the concentration, thesis or research should be health-related
- Degree must be from an accredited institution and program
- Doctoral degree must demonstrate successful completion of doctoral-level coursework
- Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2026.
- Demonstrated potential for teaching and/or developing courses in the Health Science major (e.g., AI in Health, Population Health, Data Science, Health Informatics, and/or related courses)
- Demonstrated potential for conducting research, scholarly and creative activities
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated potential or willingness to implement multiple teaching modalities (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, synchronous and/or asynchronous online learning)
- Demonstrated potential or willingness to implement evidence-based teaching strategies that are effective for diverse learners
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience to develop interdisciplinary curriculum in the areas of AI in Health
- Demonstrated potential or effectiveness in interdisciplinary research collaborations
- Demonstrated potential or effectiveness in applying for external funding
- Demonstrated potential or willingness to provide service to the department, college, and campus and/or in the community or profession
- Experience of successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
- Experience mentoring or supporting students with minoritized identities or experience using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
Duties:
- Teach in the Department of Health Science using techniques that support diverse student success. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaborative efforts
- Engage in the development, maintenance and teaching of undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and graduate (Masters and DrPH) curricular offerings, including accreditation-related activities
- Engage in mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students
- Engage in an active research agenda
- Engage in the dissemination of research in refereed academic outlets and discipline-specific professional meetings
- Engage in the application of external funding to support research agenda
- Engage in activities that support diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus, in local and global communities, and the profession
- Engage in service to the department, college, university, community, and profession
