SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday, 1:00 pm - 4:48 pm
This recruitment will be used to fill all current and future vacancies as well as create a substitute list. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.
Responsibilities- The Child Development Center Department of the Long Beach Community College District seeks a qualified individual to provide care, guidance and developmentally appropriate learning and socialization experiences for toddler and/or preschool-aged children to encourage and facilitate positive social and cognitive learning; duties and responsibilities are carried out with substantial independence within established policies and guidelines.
Education, Training and
Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED, plus completion of twelve (12) semester units in child growth and development, human growth and development, child family and community, or child development/early childhood education from an accredited college and a minimum of 25 days experience of three-plus (3+) hours per day within 2 years; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in an academic setting is highly desirable.

Special Requirements:
- A Livescan showing cleared fingerprints through Community Care Licensing (if not already cleared, you are responsible to obtain fingerprinting; CDCs will provide paperwork and instructions).
- Copy of Child Development Permit (if applicable)
- A photo
- A negative TB test (within the past 6 months)
- Proof of MMR vaccination or immunity to Measles
- Proof of Pertussis/TDAP vaccination within the past 10 years
- Proof of Influenza vaccination OR a signed waiver
- Certificate of completion of California Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training for General Training (4 hours) and Child Care Provider (3 hours)
- Certificate of completion in compliance with Healthy Schools Act
- May require a valid California driver s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District s vehicle insurance policy
Note:
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee advancement; qualifications will be assessed to determine those most competitive.
- To be considered, all materials must be received by the Long Beach City College Office of Human Resources by the closing date. Incomplete or late applications will be disqualified.
- Submit a completed online application through NEOGOV; ensure all portions are filled out. Attach transcripts or diploma if required. For substitutions, attach a statement as noted above.
- If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait 90 days to test again for the same classification.
- During the recruitment, LBCCD uses email for important information. Check your email regularly; add and to safe senders.
- Pass/fail examination segments may include training/background review, SME supplemental evaluation, written exams, qualifications appraisal, performance, and technical oral examinations.
- Test parts are determined by the candidate pool; the District may adjust pass points to meet staffing needs.
Test schedule is tentative. For example:
Training and Experience review Week of Sept. 22, 2025;
Qualification appraisal Week of Oct. 6, 2025;
Final interview Week of Oct. 20, 2025.
