  • BA/BS in Recreation Therapy, Recreation, Parks, Tourism, or related discipline.
  • MA/MS in Recreation Therapy, Recreation Management, or related discipline Candidates working toward completion of a master’s degree will be considered as long as official notification of completion of the master’s degree can be provided by August 1, 2027 (for Fall semester start)
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in Teaching
  • Specialization in general Recreation Management or Recreation Therapy
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first‑generation students
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching or training excellence at the college or professional level
  • At least two years of related professional work experience (Parks and Recreation, Summer Camps, Non‑Profit Recreation like YMCA’s or Boys and Girls Clubs)
  • Certified Recreation Therapist (RTC: CA, CTRS: National)
  • Experience successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
Duties
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Recreation Therapy and Recreation Management. Mode of instruction is primarily in‑person but may include online or hybrid courses
  • Develop relationships with internal and external partners to further expand student opportunities in Recreation and Leisure Studies
  • Participate in service to the Department, College, University, Profession, and Community
