About the TeamThe Structures and Mechanisms team is responsible for the full design, build, and test lifecycle of Terran R’s integrated structures and flight mechanisms. Team members work on multiple parts, share design principles, and are empowered to make decisions that directly impact flight hardware.
About the RoleYour responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Innovative conceptualization of structural load path, design for complex structures and adjacent system packaging.
- Review of static & dynamic load inputs, material properties & test, as well as structural systems & subsystems requirements.
- Analysis and sizing of flight structures to ensure timely design reviews and drawing release.
- Develop and support hardware test campaigns, including test integration, operation and result evaluation.
In order to be successful, you should be self‑motivated, adaptable, and able to lead your own projects in a fast‑paced environment. You should have significant mechanical or structural design experience and a proven track record completing collaborative projects effectively.
Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in a design engineering role.
- 2+ years of experience in design, analysis, fabrication, and development of aerospace composite structures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with industry‑standard CAD packages such as NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis (hand calculations, finite element methods, industry‑standard tools) and testing.
- Experience with Nastran and ANSYS, and the ability to use GD&T and drafting practices.
- Experience in composite manufacturing processes and inspection methods.
- Experience with out‑of‑autoclave and autoclave cured structures.
- Experience using NX/Team Center.
Hiring range: $142,000 – $181,500 USD, plus equity, PTO, and other benefits. For further details view the benefits portal.
