Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hydrogeologist / Groundwater Modeler in our Long Beach, California office. This position is well‑suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who wants to contribute to innovative and challenging projects involving contaminated site assessment and remediation, groundwater management and water supply, litigation support, and contaminant fate and transport.

- Design and oversight of field investigations and development of conceptual hydrogeologic models.
- Serve as the technical specialist on impacted groundwater projects.
- Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses.
- Data analysis/visualization of site investigation data, including preparation of tables, maps, and figures using industry‑standard and cutting‑edge applications.
- Support fate and transport modeling, natural attenuation evaluations, and risk assessment.
- Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
- Serve as a testifying expert on litigation matters involving hydrogeologic fate and transport.
- Prepare, review, and certify technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Lead meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
- Lead proposal efforts and other business development activities.
- At times, perform fieldwork focused on contractor oversight for assessment and remediation projects.
- Travel to client or company project or office sites as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or earth sciences. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same field. (preferred)
- Professional registration (e.g., P.G.). (preferred)
- At least 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience with developing and analyzing aquifer performance tests. (required)
- Demonstrated interest in contaminant remediation and quantitative hydrogeology. (required)
- Experience with high‑resolution investigation methods such as LIF, MIP, and HPT. (preferred)
- Experience with visualization tools (AutoCAD, ArcGIS) and/or groundwater flow and geochemical modeling (Modflow, MT3D, equilibrium models). (preferred)
- Demonstrated success in client development and management. (required)
- Ability to handle multiple project assignments, meet strict deadlines, and travel to client facilities. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record. (required)
Compensation:
Minimum Salary $130,280/year, Maximum Salary $182,390/year (Long Beach, CA). The base salary is one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set, and location.
