Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time.

Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum.

The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Factory Test team is responsible for hardware testing in our Long Beach facilities. We use our breadth of experience and collaborative engineering approach to support everything from very large structural tests to precise valve actuation. To that end, we design, build, and operate all test assets in Long Beach from initial concept to test execution. If you enjoy working on a multi-disciplinary team with a broad mandate and want to put hands‑on hardware, then this is the team for you.

About the Role:

  • Set the technical direction, evaluate risk, and review design work of the engineering team as it relates to the data collection and control of our structural, mechanism, and component test stands.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, retain, and manage top‑tier data and control systems engineers at all levels of seniority.
  • Collaborate on multi‑disciplinary projects and help build relationships with partner teams at all organizational levels including Structures Test, Fluids Test, Operations, Ground Software, Data Platform, Vehicle Engineering, and others.
  • Create, track, and report project schedules and budgets while reducing cost and lead time.
  • Spend 50% of your time in an operational environment focused on real‑time problem solving.

About You:

  • BS in Electrical engineering or related field or equivalent demonstrated experience and knowledge.
  • Significant technical experience with data collection and control systems; able to speak to past projects and personal contributions.
  • 3+ years of previous experience leading an engineering team, including the full talent life cycle.
  • History of activating complex projects in an operational environment and problem‑solving in the field.
  • Previous experience scaling a team or navigating the transition from development to production.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Familiarity with hydraulic and/or electric motion control schemes and applications.
  • Demonstrated success in a real‑time operational environment like launch operations, test operations, factory turn‑around, auto racing pit crew, or stage management. Past aerospace test experience is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with networking, software development, and deployment schemes.
  • Experience leading leaders.
