Salon Assistant​/Junior Stylist

We are seeking to add talented and sharp individuals that truly have a heart for service for the position of Salon Assistant/ Junior Stylist in our culturally diverse, natural and curly hair salon located in Long Beach, California.

• Successfully follow, meet quotas and exceed goals within our in-salon program for skill certification to become a full‑time Curl Specialist
• Assist stylists with blowdrying, shampooing, conditioning, detangling, draping, style finishing, etc.
• Communicate with current and potential customers via email and telephone
• Provide in- depth consutations to guests
• Be knowledgeable about all hair finishing and conditioning treatments and products and to explain the benefits of those products
• Handle POS transactions including, but not limited to completing service sales
• Educate clients on services and products and their respective benefits
• Consistent salon upkeep (inventory, sweeping, laundry, light cleaning, clean tools, etc.) during the workday
• Promote and faithfully comply with all policies, procedures and work rule
• Perform various other tasks as needed for the business

• Valid California cosmetology license or graduate of cosmetology school (within the last 3 years)
• Possess sales/ salon/ retail/ hospitality experience (at least 2 years)
• Be professional and have a positive personality and image
• Have
  * open* availability Tuesday
  - Sunday, and able to work 30- 40 hours per week
• Possess excellent, clear written, oral and interpersonal skills
• Possess an extremely strong work ethic
• Well presented in style and attire, and have an image in alignment with that of the business (wearing of natural/ curly hair)
• Have a strong sense of “team” and be company/ brand driven
• Have reliable transportation with valid driver’s license
• Possess exceptional time management skills, good judgment, and the ability to multi‑task
• Excellent conflict resolution skills
• Be adaptable, coachable, open and willing to receive training, information and instruction

• Continuous standing and walking throughout the day to perform duties, up to 8 full hours (with breaks)
• Continuous exposure to various chemicals and fragrances used in performing services and styling hair, including but not limited to hair color, lightener, shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, heat tools and guest perfume
• Continuous repetitive movement with fingers, hands, wrists and arms, vigorous movement to massage/shampoo guest’s hair, twisting wrists to blowdry and styling tools
