About this position

About Taurus Engineering

Taurus Engineering Inc. designs and manufactures oilfield equipment. We are a growing, multi-entity organization, and we're looking for an experienced HR leader to strengthen our people practices as we evolve.

About the role

The HR Manager leads human resources across all Taurus entities and serves as a trusted partner to executive leadership, managers, and employees. This is a hands-on role with broad scope. You'll handle employee relations, build and formalize HR policy, lead organizational restructuring, run high-volume recruiting, develop managers, and launch employee well-being programs.

The environment is fast-paced and high-accountability. Priorities shift, and you'll work directly with executive stakeholders. The right person stays steady under pressure, pushes back with confidence and tact, and builds credibility at every level of the company, from the shop floor to the C-suite.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, conflicts, and complaints across all entities
  • Conduct thorough, impartial workplace investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions
  • Advise managers on performance management, corrective action, and terminations
  • Identify trends in employee issues and address root causes before they escape

Policy & Documentation

  • Develop, write, and maintain HR policies, procedures, SOPs, and the employee handbook
  • Keep policies compliant with federal, California, and local employment laws, and update them as regulations change
  • Roll out new policies with clear communication and training so they are understood and applied consistently

Organizational Restructuring

  • Lead reorganization efforts, including org design, role mapping, job descriptions, and reporting structures
  • Partner with executives to plan and carry out change, including workforce planning and transition logistics
  • Manage the people side of change: communication plans, employee impact, and legal risk

Recruitment

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for a high volume of open roles, from hourly production positions to professional and leadership hires
  • Build sourcing pipelines, manage job postings, screen candidates, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers
  • Improve the hiring process, including onboarding, offer approvals, and candidate experience
  • Design and deliver training for supervisors and managers on leadership, communication, performance conversations, and compliance (including California-required harassment prevention training)
  • Coach managers individually on people issues and help them build confidence in handling difficult situations

Employee Well-Being & Engagement

  • Create and run well-being programs that support employees' physical, mental, and financial health
  • Lead engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and employee feedback efforts
  • Promote a respectful, safe, and inclusive workplace culture

Executive Partnership

  • Work daily with C-suite leaders, providing candid guidance on people decisions, risk, and culture
  • Balance executive priorities with employee needs and legal requirements, and hold firm when it matters
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and recommendations for leadership
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a manager or senior generalist role
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law (CFRA, PAGA, wage and hour, leave laws)
  • Demonstrated experience with employee relations investigations, policy writing, and full-cycle recruiting
  • Experience leading or supporting organizational restructuring or change management
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with senior executives in a demanding environment
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information

Preferred:

  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification
  • HR experience in manufacturing, oil & gas, or industrial settings
  • Experience supporting multiple entities or locations
  • Experience building HR programs from the ground up
