CHRS Snowflake Integration Manager

California State University, Office of the Chancellor

Position Information

The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a CHRS Snowflake Integration Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of cloud-based data pipelines and integrations between the Common Human Resources System (CHRS) and the CSU Snowflake data platform.

This managerial role supervises direct reports and oversees technical teams and cross‑functional collaborations to ensure the delivery of scalable, high‑quality, and secure data integration solutions that align with CSU’s enterprise data strategy. The position champions best practices in data architecture, governance, and automation, while driving continuous improvement, standardization, and performance excellence across campuses and the Chancellor’s Office.

A key responsibility is to lead and manage the campus adoption of the Snowflake platform as the systemwide source of truth—overseeing migration initiatives from legacy or interim “schema” datasets, coordinating technical resources, and ensuring consistent, efficient, and reliable access to data across the CSU system.

Classification: Administrator II

Salary range: Up to $150,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Full‑time temporary position with benefits. Approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office) with onsite work at headquarters in Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations and monitoring of CHRS data ingestion into Snowflake.
  • Design and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using tools such as dbt, Airflow, and AWS Glue.

  • Manage root cause analysis and resolution of data integration issues.
  • Manage quality checks and validation procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborate with Identity Management and Information Security teams to align with CSU data governance policies.
  • Participate in cross‑functional project teams, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required;
    Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, integration, or data warehouse development.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with Snowflake in a professional setting.

  • Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt).
  • Understanding of data privacy and security in higher education contexts.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
