Travel RN - Pediatrics

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatrics RN with at least 2 years of experience and PALS certification for a day shift assignment requiring CA licensure.

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience with central and peripheral line care and management
• Experience administering TPN/lipids and emergency medications, including anti-seizure medications
• Skilled in pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience assisting with lumbar punctures and managing neuromuscular disease and seizure disorders preferred
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, oral/nasal suctioning, oxygen delivery, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with body fluid handling post-chemotherapy preferred
• Experience supporting breastfeeding and handling breast milk preferred
• Skilled in NG tube insertion and management
• Experience managing orthopedic fractures
• Knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE
• Wound assessment and care skills
• Experience with indwelling urinary catheter insertion and management, and peritoneal dialysis/CAPD
• Knowledge of renal failure management
• Experience with insulin administration
• One professional reference required within the last 2 years

• Work in the Pediatric Med Surg unit of a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from
• Every other weekend required, totaling 12 shifts (day shifts Sat & Sun, night shifts Fri & Sat)
• Floating required to General Peds, Peds Hem/Oncology, NICU, and PICU based on census
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide general pediatric nursing care with floating responsibilities across multiple specialty units based on census needs
• Pre-approved time off must be submitted at the time of consideration; no additional time off requests accepted afterward
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous permanent staff members are not eligible for consideration
