The HSE Coordinator is responsible for implementing and managing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs within the organization. This role ensures compliance with local and federal regulations, promotes a safety culture, and collaborates across departments to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
Essential Functions- Develop and maintain HSE programs in line with all relevant laws, regulations, and company standards.
- Regularly review and update safety policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training to employees; maintain training records and ensure all staff meet compliance requirements.
- Manage incident reporting and investigations; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Report findings and collaborate with management to resolve safety issues.
- Stay current on HSE regulations and best practices; ensure company policies remain up to date.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies as needed, and submit accurate, timely reports and documentation.
- Act as the main point of contact for all HSE matters; promote clear communication and engagement around safety initiatives.
- Prepare and present HSE performance reports to senior management.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans; organize drills and training to ensure employee preparedness.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian HSE laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Working knowledge of CE/OSHA and U.S. regulatory standards.
- Experience implementing ISO-based management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45001).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Commitment to fostering a positive safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Travel 25‑50% within Canada; some travel to the United States.
- Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to navigate and inspect construction or industrial environments (stairs, ladders, uneven surfaces).
