The Restaurant Host is responsible for ensuring all guests are properly greeted and seated, reservations are handled according to Sevilla expectations, and information is accurately relayed to guests. This position requires a constant focus on maintaining a professional demeanor while representing Sevilla. It involves a heavy administrative focus, which entails precise communication, strong attention to detail, timeliness, and documentation skills. The ability to passionately communicate Sevilla’s unique characteristics to our guests, positively contribute to our work environment, and follow company, state, and federal regulations are keys to success as a Host at Café Sevilla!

Position

Responsibilities
  • Use the Opening and Closing Checklists on a nightly basis to track completion of opening and closing procedures.
  • Create the best guest experience and cultivate customer return.
  • Ensure every guest has an enjoyable and memorable dining experience. Provide assistance for the positive resolution of guest concerns.
  • Provide great customer service.
  • Work directly at the host stand to properly take reservations, establish proper wait times, handle large party requests, and control the flow of seating for optimum kitchen times.
  • Answer phone calls, take reservations, and answer questions.
  • Enforce the first five (5) steps of service to all tables being seated when possible.
  • Inform guests of current promotions and who will be serving them to ensure a smooth hand-off to the service staff.
  • Manage reservations:
    Always be aware of reservations, inform management as reservations near full, and ensure all details for a reservation are entered into the reservation system.
  • Follow company policy specific to large party reservations as applicable to your location.
  • Ensure all Social Offer/Third Party Reservations are properly accounted for and all necessary notes are listed in the Reservation System.
  • Ensure all reservations have been confirmed prior to reservation time.
  • Engage with guests in front of or walking past Sevilla to entice them to come into the building.
  • Provide guests with menus and answer any initial questions.
  • Be aware of promotions currently running, upcoming holiday information, and local events.
  • Notify management and the kitchen of expected busiest times for reservations.
  • Assign guests to preferred tables while keeping table rotation in mind.
  • Work with management to create appropriate server stations for the workday.
  • Complete the player's list for the day and ensure all employees are aware of its details.
  • Engage with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service.
  • Respond to complaints and help resolve them as needed.
  • Complete all assigned training tests and courses.
  • Manage the flow of guests into the dining and bar areas, providing accurate wait times.
  • Actively run a guest list as needed.
  • Have knowledge of the various menus available at Cafe Sevilla.
  • Have knowledge of the current reservation system.
  • Have knowledge of the Sevilla Steps of Service for Servers and Bartenders.
  • Help out with other positions in the restaurant as needed.
  • Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies.
  • Maintain a positive work attitude and friendly demeanor with coworkers.
  • Adhere to uniform expectations as per the Sevilla Handbook.
  • Immediately report any maintenance, security, and/or safety issues to a manager.
  • Other work duties as assigned by management.
    • Additional Responsibilities
  • Clock in & out for each work shift properly.
  • All breaks must be taken per Company Policy outlined in the Sevilla Handbook.
  • Take a meal period when working 6 or more hours in one shift.
  • Notify a manager if unable to take a meal period or break.
  • Attend and participate in all mandatory staff meetings.
  • Report suspicions of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and/or safety issues immediately to a manager.
