CFAA Fire Alarm Technician - FIFO

We are currently recruiting for Certified Fire Alarm Technician to join our team at Suncor Base Plant site. As the Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support for new and previously installed fire alarm systems that are moderately complex.

• Test, repair, and service a variety of fire alarm systems and equipment with guidance as needed. Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
• Identify and resolve problems for various types of service calls including emergency calls; analyse repair requirements and provide customer with appropriate solutions; complete necessary repairs and replacements as needed;
  Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. May require originality and ingenuity in some situations.
• Using technical knowledge, skills and experience, may act as mentor for less experienced staff. May provide guidance to workers in testing, annual inspections, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.
• Must be proficient in hazard identification, reporting, and hazard mitigation strategy.
• Effectively communicate project requirements and status including project change proposals and related project activities on a regular basis to project manager/supervisor. Completes work on time and according to project schedules including project change proposals.
• Perform system inspections and general maintenance, system install and start-up, programming and commissioning. Complete final adjustments, calibration and commissioning reports on systems.
• Complete accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
• Requirement to participate in our after hours on-call program.
• Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.

• Solid customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to determine the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
• Solid technical skills and experience related to fire alarm systems. Experience with building automation systems electronic security systems is an asset
• Solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions
• Must be a self‑starter and work well with general supervision
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper)
